Who qualifies?

If you are a student currently enrolled in a psychology graduate program that requires you to complete personal therapy hours to graduate, please consider utilizing the directory to locate a provider based on your specific needs/requirements. 

 

Currently, this directory is only open to students in programs with a mandate for personal therapy. In the future, we would like to expand this to all students in psychology graduate programs. Because we are in the early stages of this project, we ask that you please respect the current qualification rules. However, it is important for us to understand the level of need. If you are currently enrolled in a psychology graduate program without a mandated therapy requirement but are still interested, please contact us at cpafoundation.org. 

 

How do I sign up?

There is no formal sign-up process. If you qualify for reduced or free psychotherapy according to the criteria outlined above, you can access the provider directory.

 

How do I choose a psychologist? 

Use the directory search functions to select a psychologist based on your specific criteria. Once you have selected someone you are interested in, please reach out to them via the contact information provided (phone or email).

 

How do I know if the psychologist I selected is licensed and in good standing with the California Board of Psychology (BOP)?

The CPA-F staff will verify a psychologist’s license number when they initially sign up as a provider. After that, it is up to the student to verify that the psychologist has a valid license and is in good standing with the BOP. Use the link here to verify a license.

 

What about confidentiality?

The communication between a student and a potential or current therapist is confidential. As website host, our role is only to maintain the website and directory. Once you have connected with a psychologist, you will complete any paperwork related to their personal practice.

 

What if there are no providers listed in the directory?

The directory is dynamic. If there are no current providers listed, please check back regularly. Recruitment of providers is ongoing, and we expect demand to exceed capacity in the early months of this project.
